The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a new $20M Innovative Traffic Safety Enforcement (ITSE) grant program to deploy cutting-edge traffic safety enforcement innovations.
While NHTSA will consider innovative enhancements to existing countermeasures, the goal is to develop evidence-based projects that are scalable and transferable for use by state and local law enforcement agencies.
The primary target of the program is to develop innovative traffic safety enforcement programs that demonstrate effectiveness by reducing the number of motor vehicle crashes due to one or more of the subject risky driving behaviors. In addition, the program aims to ensure the traffic safety enforcement programs are repeatable and scalable for use by law enforcement throughout the United States.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is responsible for keeping people safe on America's roadways, by enforcing vehicle performance standards and partnerships with state and local governments to reduce deaths, injuries, & economic loss from vehicle crashes.
